Becoming a company where every employee can maximize their potential

TANAKA considers the individuality of each employee a source of value and positions Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DE&I) as a key management strategy for promotion company-wide.
To foster innovation for a brighter future and ensure the happiness of employees, we carry out activities based on the following guidelines.

Listening to employees: the DE&I Caravan Team

To further promote DE&I, we established the DE&I Promotion Office in April 2023. The first activity of this dedicated department was to listen to the voices of employees and understand the actual situation.

The project, named the DE&I Caravan, conducted interviews with 370 employees across 26 domestic locations, as well as training sessions and surveys on DE&I-related themes, using multifaceted approaches to gather feedback.

As a result, various hidden issues were brought to light including diversity and harassment issues, childcare and caregiving concerns, and the lack of necessary information reaching employees. TANAKA will define themes for initiatives based on this feedback and work to reform its organizational culture.

About DE&I Initiatives

Creating a psychologically safe organization

Psychological safety is a state in which every individual respects every other and feels safe to express their opinions.
TANAKA believes that creating a psychologically safe organization promotes the active participation of diverse talent and helps prevent various forms of harassment.
As one of our initiatives, we provide unconscious bias training sessions to all employees to foster empathy and imagination towards those in different positions.
We are advancing the creation of a comfortable working environment for everyone.

Support for balancing work and family care

To help employees balance work with childcare or family caregiving, we are not only enhancing and expanding our support systems, but also encouraging employees to use them.

Through company intranets, digital signage, posters and brochures, we spread information and awareness of the support systems. We also hold management discussions on their effective use and strive to create an internal culture that makes the systems easy to use.

Creating a workplace where diverse talent can thrive

We are committed to creating a workplace where everyone can leverage their differences and strengths as members of the group. For example, we are promoting the employment of people with disabilities.

Through both soft and hard measures, such as the installation of universal access toilets, we are creating an environment where employees with disabilities can work with confidence. We also respect sexual diversity and strive to create a workplace where everyone can work with peace of mind, free from harassment and discrimination based on sexual orientation or gender identity.

We are working to promote awareness and understanding of LGBTQ issues, such as by adding changing rooms that anyone can use regardless of gender.

Development of female managers

We promote the active participation of women in the workplace and aim to create an environment where women can fully utilize their abilities and grow. By recruiting diverse human resources and supporting their career development, we pave the way for women to advance to managerial positions.

Various certifications

Kurumin certification (acquired in 2022). We support the raising of children.
