Social Media Policy

Social media is a collective term for services that allow users to freely post ideas and photos, etc. via the Internet and interact with various people. Amid a dramatic leap in social media in recent years, companies need to use social media appropriately without harming their brand image and while managing relevant risk.

TANAKA Precious Metals (hereinafter, the “Group”) adopts and complies with the “Social Media Policy” as to the operation of the Group’s Official Social Media Accounts and the use of social media by the Group employees.

Purpose of the Social Media Policy

The Group aims to enhance its brand image and value, contribute to society as a leading company of precious metals, and to be constantly chosen by customers by broadly communicating through social media and building a good relationship with both society and its customers.

Attitude toward participation in social media

The Group engages in dialogue with a modest and sensible attitude based on the understanding that social media is a forum for communications where users can freely post ideas and photos, etc. and interact with various people, and that the information is broadly publicized around the world and can never be entirely deleted.

  1. The employees of the Group shall comply with national and local laws and regulations, and internal rules including “TANAKA Precious Metals Code of Conduct and Standards of Conduct.”
  2. Be aware of the content of information to be posted and the manner of distribution, and ensure not to spread incorrect information or information that is misleading to customers.
  3. Always remain aware that information posted on social media is accessible to an unspecified number of people, and understand that publicized information cannot be completely deleted, and that there is a risk of malicious falsification or diversion by a malicious third party.
  4. If the posted information is incorrect or a description is misleading, immediately apologize and correct the information.
  5. Observe the rules of social media accounts opened and run by third parties, and respect their culture and manners. Further, respect the rights of third parties such as intellectual property and privacy rights and ensure not to harm their reputation.

Social Media Terms of Use

1. Terms of Use

The Terms of Use prescribe the rules when using all the social media accounts operated by the Group. Users shall comply and agree with the following items when using the information, etc. provided by the Company’s Official Social Media Accounts (hereinafter, “the service.”)

2. Prohibitions

Social media users shall not engage in any of the following acts during their use.

  1. Infringing on the rights and interests of the Group, other users and other third parties
  2. Defaming, slandering, or insulting the Group, other users or other third parties, harming their reputation, credit or privacy etc. (including disclosing information that may lead to personal identification such as the e-mail addresses, phone numbers and/or addresses of the Group, other users or other third parties) or obstructing their business
  3. Violating the Public Offices Election Act
  4. Soliciting membership in religious or other groups or organizations
  5. Soliciting investments, donations, funding or the purchase of goods or services, etc.
  6. Introducing other websites that the Group deems inappropriate or soliciting users to visit such websites, or using the service to download files
  7. Appropriating information obtained through the service for commercial purposes
  8. Sending harmful programs or files such as viruses that interfere with the normal functioning of computer software or hardware, to the Group, other users, or other third parties through use of the service
  9. Posting information or content without legitimate authorization to post on the website
  10. Interfering with the provision or use of the service by the Group, other users or other third parties
  11. Accessing the website by hacking or other illegal acts, or monitoring or duplicating all or part of the website
  12. Committing other acts that violate the Terms of Use prescribed by social media providers, public order and morals, laws and regulations, or penal laws or that the Group otherwise deems inappropriate

3. Reason for deletion

If a user of the service violates the Terms of Use, the Group may delete the user’s posts or restrict its use of the service, and the user shall not object to such action.

4. Handling of personal information

We will comply with the “TANAKA Precious Metals Matters Relating to Personal Information / Privacy Policy” in handling personal information.

5. Disclaimers

If a user of the service violates the Terms of Use, or causes tangible or intangible damage to the Group, other users, or other third parties in connection with use of the service, the user shall provide compensation for such damage at its own responsibility and expense, and the Group shall not bear any responsibility or burden.

The Group does not guarantee or endorse the information provided by users through the service, and thus the Group shall not be liable for any damages etc. incurred by users as a result of trusting such information.

6. Copyrights

All copyrights to information posted by users through the service (including the rights set forth in Article 27 and Article 28 of the Copyright Act of Japan) shall belong to the Group, and users shall not exercise their moral rights thereto. Users have no right to claim compensation for the attribution or waiver of such rights.

7. Revision of the Terms of Use

The Group may amend the contents of the Terms of Use without obtaining the consent of the service users. In such cases, the revised Terms of Use shall take effect immediately upon publication of the revised Terms of Use on the Group’s website or by other means, and users of the service shall thereafter be subject to the revised Terms of Use.

8. Governing law and jurisdiction

The Tokyo District Court shall have the court of exclusive jurisdiction in the first instance for disputes concerning the use of the service and the Terms of Use.

9. Prohibitions of photography at the Group’s offices and facilities, etc.

The following acts are prohibited at offices and facilities (company building, plants, stores, etc.) held or managed by the Group, exhibitions, seminars, webinars, etc. unless permission is obtained.

  • Photography and video recording
  • Sound recording
  • Live streaming
  • Video recording of seminars, webinars, etc. and screenshots, etc.

In conducting the above, please consult employees or staff in advance and obtain the required permission. Unauthorized photography is strictly prohibited to protect the privacy of other customers and employees and to prevent the leakage of the Group’s confidential information. If any unauthorized photography is found, appropriate measures shall be taken based on the company’s rules. We ask for your kind understanding and cooperation.
