Catalysts and Compounds / F-5 Platinum and Platinum Ruthenium Alloy / Carbon Catalysts for Polymer Electrolyte Membrane Fuel Cell (PEFC) / Technology and Products

We have developed environmentally friendly catalysts for PEFC
Both small and light, PEFC provide high levels of power. They have become the focus of attention predominantly in connection with fuel cell electric vehicle (FCEV) and portable home power sources. Expectations are high for a new and environmentally-friendly power source utilizing the chemical reaction of hydrogen and oxygen.
We have combined precious metal catalyst technology and electrochemical technology, both of which we have developed over a number of years, and have succeeded in developing highly activated catalysts for cathode and highly CO-tolerant catalysts for anode of PEFC.

Standard Pt/C Catalysts (Highly Activated Catalysts)
Pt20wt%~40wt% on low surface area carbon
Pt20wt%~50wt% on Vulcan XC-72
Pt20wt%~60wt% on high surface area carbon

Standard Pt-Ru/C Catalysts (Highly CO-tolerant Catalysts)
Pt33wt% on Vulcan XG-72
Pt54wt% on high surface area carbon
(Orders accepted for non-standard platinum content, carbon support and alloy catalysts.)

Applications
Polymer electrolyte membrane fuel cells, other gas diffusion electrodes, etc.
